White out.

Mark lived for the little white moments in the day. Bright sunlight through the parted curtains waking him before his alarm clock. The sudden shock of non-recycled air when he escaped the office for forty-five minutes at lunchtime. The subconscious jolt back to cognition and fluorescent submersion on the train one stop before his own station.

Mark told no one of the white moments. He harboured a latent fear that to tell would annihilate the white core of his being.
