Life.

The little window box outside her kitchen had sat empty for more than two years. She watched mini dust storms whipped up by the swirling air between the three tower blocks all packed together. During the summer rains she loved the colour of the mud and the swirling murky water as it drained through the soil.

On a whim she planted seeds for pansies. She watered them diligently each time she washed the dishes. From the little desert grew a great and colourful display, so large it blocked her view of the other concrete buildings. She took quiet delight in what she had tended.
