Not somebody else.
In that used book store making jokes that dont make any sense you're not the only one between us who wants more. Then I wait, wondering what you're going to do, how you're going to respond. Wondering whether you're going to say the things you shouldn't say. Say something you shouldn't, and then ask me to do it as well. And then I might try.
I am going to hold it close. I won't let go. I won't tell you what I'm guessing. Because we're both in this thing, this foolish thing that lives between us. Still there, just floating underneath, colouring everything I do into a happiness I wish I could show you. If I could arrange the world, I might just give you half the chance.
(Entirely stolen words)
