Noise.

It�s the cars full of kids late on a Friday with the bass beat rocking the suspension. It�s the guys on the night bus making one last attempt to impress sleepy girls. It�s the bars spilling laughter onto the street in the mid-summer. It�s the hum of the huddle around the fire when the sun sets at four.

He takes a deep breath and tries to make a sound. He really wants a quiet girl who will let him be a quiet boy.
